At Scherger Roofing, we go beyond roofing to provide expert masonry and chimney repair services. Chimneys and exterior masonry play a critical role in protecting your home, but over time, exposure to the elements can lead to deterioration. Cracked bricks, weakened mortar, and failing chimney caps can compromise both your chimney’s stability and your roof’s integrity. Our team includes skilled masons who specialize in chimney maintenance, repairs, and full rebuilds.
✅ Chimney Cleaning & Maintenance – Regular cleaning prevents moss and moisture buildup, which can break down mortar joints over time.
✅ Tuckpointing & Mortar Repairs – Mortar naturally shrinks and deteriorates due to weather exposure. If caught early, we can remove damaged mortar and apply fresh, high-quality mortar to restore stability.
✅ Counterflashing Replacement – Located at the chimney’s base, counterflashing is essential for waterproofing. Over time, metal flashing can rust or fail. We ensure proper installation to prevent leaks and long-term damage.
✅ Chimney Crown Repair & Replacement – The chimney crown is the first line of defense against rain and snow. Cracks, shrinkage, and wear are common, but replacing the crown with a properly designed drip edge helps protect the brickwork below.
✅ Flue Liner Replacement – A damaged flue liner can lead to dangerous conditions inside your home. If cracks appear, we can replace the liner, often in combination with a chimney crown replacement.
If your chimney shows widespread brick damage, crumbling mortar, or severe structural failure, simple repairs may not be enough. A complete chimney rebuild is sometimes necessary to restore both function and appearance. Our experienced masons can safely demolish and reconstruct your chimney using high-quality materials to match your home’s aesthetic.
Masonry chimneys are made of brick, mortar, flue liners, and caps, all of which can deteriorate over time. Without proper upkeep, these components can lead to leaks, structural damage, and even fire hazards. Our team addresses common chimney issues, ensuring long-term durability and safety.
